Postography is an awesome new iPhone app that allows you to create and send premium, paper postcards from your iPhone! That’s real postcards through the USPS. It’s currently in private BETA and I just added myself to the list. You can add yourself too. And be a dear, spread the word: 1) Tweet it. 2) Post to Facebook. 3) Reblog this. 4) Email to friends and lists. But really, add yourself to the BETA list and give Postography feedback!

Kraftwerk Keeps Catching Up With Its Past | Jon Pareles, NYT

As manifestos go, “The Robots” — the first song Kraftwerk played on Tuesday to start its eight-night series of retrospective concerts at the Museum of Modern Art — is adroitly misleading. “We’re programmed to do/anything you want us to,” Ralf Hutter sang.

In fact Kraftwerk has been far more predictive than obedient. It can rightfully claim to have done some cultural reprogramming of its own. Back in the 1970s Kraftwerk conceptualized itself as the Man-Machine and started writing songs about what technology might do to — and with — the modern mind. It can now claim a direct influence on all sorts of electronic and computer-driven music, while its lyrics clearly envisioned our computer-mediated daily lives.

Tuesday’s concert was the beginning of Retrospective 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, with Kraftwerk performing eight consecutive albums on eight nights for just 450 people per show.

Much like they were in 2011, the 2012 Phillies are a contender built on pitching. With three of the top fifteen starting pitchers in the sport in their starting rotation, arguably the second-best closer in the game, and a combination of solid back-end starters and versatile non-closers, the pitching staff is one of baseball’s best.

All they need is adequate offense and defense to contend, and if Howard and Utley return on time, the offense gets that much better. The Phillies might not have as sunny a long-term outlook as other contenders, but for 2012 they are still favorites to win the NL East Division, and are still considered the class of the National League in our organizational rankings.

“The assignment was to determine how and why Hunter Pence was so quickly and completely accepted here,” Gonzo told us. “Translated into the local vernacular, I was tasked with figuring out what makes him a ‘Philly guy.’ As anyone who’s from the area knows, there’s no set criteria for that kind of thing.”

Nice player, but based on the number of Pence shirseys roaming around CBP the week he was signed you’d think this guy was the second coming of Babe Ruth. Worth reading the comments on the blog post at the 700 Level.
